This half term our IPC topic is ‘Bears’. We are learning about bear toys old and new, real bears and where they live in the world and exploring the traditional story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.

For our Entry Point we hosted a Teddy Bear’s Picnic for our favourite furry friends! We were very busy the week before writing invitations and shopping lists. Look at our wonderful writing!

On Monday 6^th November the big day arrived! We all came to school with our bears. There were all different kinds of bears and some were small and some extremely big! Jean-Seb came to visit us and he brought Noutou, his special bear that he has had since he was a little boy. We loved listening to Noutou’s adventures, hearing how he had been lost and found and checking out his repairs from over the years.

We were very busy during the morning preparing for the picnic. Elysa helped us to make Teddy Bear Paw Biscuits and we learnt how chocolate melts when heat is applied. The biscuits were delicious!

We also practised our fine motor skills as we buttered the bread for our sandwiches. We chose our fillings and decided whether to cut the sandwiches into triangles, rectangles or squares. The sandwiches were delicious too!

After lunch we made some Teddy Bear decorations and then we settled down for our picnic. It was snowing outside so we had to have an indoor picnic but it was still lots of fun. We think our Teddy Bears enjoyed the day too!

Each week the class teacher rewards one child in their class the Star of the Week as a result of their outstanding learning and/ or behaviour. Their achievement is celebrated during the assembly on a Tuesday. The `STAR`receives a certificate which is presented in the assembly and their name is added to the Star of the Week display board for all to see! Well done to the STARS this week.

This week the music teacher, Mr Allard, has taken it upon himself , to organise a special evening out of school with some of the Junior students. He has chosen a group of ten students who have worked well and enoy the music lessons, to accompany him to see a fantastic concert in Geneva. The students will leave after class, stop on the way to have a family dinner with Mr Allard, and then continue on to Geneva for their concert. It is a very popular group and there will be many spectators,I hope that the students enjoy their time this evening. Even though it will be a late evening, it has been agreed by all the students participating that tomorrow, they are to be bright eyed and ready for their lessons at 8am, we will see how that goes in the morning :-)

Our next charity event will take a group of students to “Coop" in Collombey on Saturday 11th of November, from 9am to 5pm, to sell cakes, sweets and salty snacks.

To be sure that the funds collected will be as beneficial as possible, parents and all our staff members have kindly been invited to bake cakes, biscuits, sweets, jams or salted products.

With the younger generation and their use of internet and all that it entails,Facebook, Instagram etc, we invited the local police spokesperson who came to explain the dangers and what to look out for. The students enjoyed the talk and were surprised that even though they thought they knew everything, there were a lot of hidden dangers. Did you know that by using Instagram you allow access to all your photographs on your phone! The talk which was in English this time, was enjoyed by all and the students wanted to stay longer but unfortunately we had no more time. We hope that the message got through to them and that they will be more attentive when using their phones,ipads and computers.
