We are an international boarding & day school for children from 4 to 18 years old and located in Villars, a beautiful and sunny ski resort in the Swiss mountains of the Alps. We have been a boarding school since 1947 and we are a home away from home, or rather ‘A Family Away From Home’ for students from all over the world. Our students aged between 4 and 18, come from over 40 different countries, which makes internationalism a truly integrated part of our identity. We are a boarding school with space for 200 students of all ages. We do however also welcome a limited number of local day students. This creates a unique and inspiring family atmosphere with links to the local community.

La Garenne welcomes children from 4 years old, both boarding and day students, from the local community and from around the world. Through personalised teaching and tailored support, every child thrives in their unique and personal learning journey. At their own pace, they celebrate each accomplishment as they make discoveries, build confidence, and blossom in social, emotional, and intellectual skills.
PRIMARY SCHOOL (age 6 to 10)
La Garenne International Primary School offers students a personalised, creative curriculum that blends traditional elements with innovative teaching, designed to meet your child's individual needs. We follow the English National Curriculum (ENC) alongside the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), ensuring academic rigour with a strong focus on developing social and emotional needs and well-being. Our curriculum aims to provide a transition into the Middle Years Secondary Programme (MYP), educating our students to become responsible and compassionate global citizens.

IB Middle Years Programme (age 11 to 16)
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is an academic programme set by the International Baccalaureate organisation for 11 to 16-year-olds. It aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The programme is challenging but caters for all abilities. A student’s final grade is based on what they actually know and are able to do.
IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME AND HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (AGE 17 TO 18)
In the final two years, flexibility within the choice of subjects allows students to follow their personal learning goals and future educational plans. After completing their MYP studies, they can choose between two different study routes for the final two years of study here at La Garenne. The IB Diploma Programme or the High School Diploma Programme. Small class sizes favour a personalised approach based on inquiry and investigative learning.

Our boarding school consists of two separate campuses, which are only a 3 minutes walk apart. The Primary Campus, with 4 large Swiss mountain chalets lies in a quiet area and provides living and studying facilities, and the Secondary Campus for our older students.

The Secondary Campus called Le Roc, lies 10 steps away from the main Villars Ski lift. This modern and purpose-built boarding and academic facility is developed together with students, parents, and staff. It offers comfortable en-suite bedrooms for 2, all with an amazing view of the alpine mountain tops.

Extracurricular activities have many benefits: your child stays fit, they work on their endurance and strength, they learn new skills, and they improve every week. Sharing activities and passions with other students results in making many new friends with whom new experiences are shared.

Winter Camps
Students eagerly await ski season, enjoying the snow up to four times a week. Our Winter Camps offer daily skiing or snowboarding for 1 to 10 weeks, with flexible class options. Designed for ages 6 to 16, the camps accommodate all levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. Led by top Swiss instructors, students get the best experience on the slopes.
